This week, we had the opportunity to visit Washington Crossing Historic Park! The class had a wonderful time seeing where George Washington crossed the Delaware River, dressing up in Colonial garments, and pretending to be Revolutionary soldiers.
What We Are Working On:
Math- As you are aware, the students took the End of the Year Math Test. The scores for this test will be reported on the Report Cards. If your child qualified to take the Accelerated Math Test for fifth grade, you will be notified via email at the end of next week. While we did take the End of the Year test, we still have the Geometry unit and the Measurement and Data units to finish. The Geometry test will be on Wednesday, 5/31 and you can expect the Measurement and Data test to be the following week. We have spent time over the past month learning all of these concepts, so your child will definitely be ready for these last two math tests!
Language Arts- We just finished reading Journey by Patricia Maclachlan. As we read, we focused on the character relationships in the story. In writing, we have been working with the Realistic Fiction genre. Everyone has chosen their story idea and has started to plan their story!
Science- We are wrapping up our Waves, Information, and Energy Transfer Unit. This week, we learned about how energy travels in waves and played around with Morse Code. On Wednesday, students will take the unit test. The Nearpod has been posted on Google Classroom for students to use and study with.
Upcoming Dates to Remember:
Enjoy the long weekend! Happy Memorial Day!
